Let us roar

At the turn of the 20th century India had 40,000 in the wild. In the year 2010 that number has dwindled to less than 1,500. Imagine in the next five years there may be not a single tiger left in the wild.
The tiger has been a part of our culture form being the Vahan of goddess DURGA, it has always symbolised power and courage. I first saw a tiger I was 12, at Sanjay Gandhi national park where they had recently brought a white tiger into the reserve. One look at the majestic creature and I was in love I remember the moment so vividly it was one of the best experiences of my life. There are a few things we never forget; I still remember how my tiny heart was pounding standing about 50mtrs from the tiger as it moved towards us and then leapt away in a flash.
Today when I saw an ad campaign about the tiger crisis it brought back all those memories which had been lost somewhere between Computer Programming languages. I never intended on becoming an Engineer, what we learn in these four years is How to think logically, how to act logically and how to implement logic. I always felt I was too emotional to be logical. Now I am almost an Engineer and I have learnt that there is more use of logic in emotions than I would have thought. Practically speaking I know there is not much I can do to save them, nor can I remain silent. This is where the Engineering comes into picture! Over the years there have been various efforts made to protect the tiger form extinction. But now we can contribute with a few clicks of the mouse. There are so many organisations out there who have dedicated their time to this cause; we can help them just by signing up online.
All of us spend lots of time living virtually lets put some of it towards the greater good. Join WWF or the Tiger Project you can even join groups on Facebook follow them on twitter. Every tiny step on our part can help them.
The tiger is one of the most charismatic species. The fall in their numbers has reached a crisis situation for which action must be taken immediately. We would have failed as a nation if we let our national animal pass go extinct. This beautiful creature needs all the help it can get form you and me!

One!

This is my first Blog!! and I am super excited and kinda nervous at the same time.
I thought starting a blog would be easy, but it requires much more thought.
The name of a blog is so important, I spent about half an hour coming up with the name.
The task at hand was so tiresome I almost put off the idea all together. Every time I came up with a title i thought was brilliant it wasn't available :(
Finally I chose Subtle Provocations, (which was my 35Th choice at least!)

Subtle originated form the Latin word subtilis which means "finespun," for sub, "beneath" and tela, "web". The idea is to weave my words into delicate subtle thoughts.
Provocation is simply the act of provoking form Provocare, which means "to challenge" pro, "forth" and vocare, "to call".

Thus my theme is thought which will provoke in a subtle manner. This is such a challenge but I am ready to explore the corners of my mind, cross all the boundaries and in doing so maybe come up with something beautiful!
